Uttam Kumar (Gyanendra) is a lawyer married to Sumoti. He had learned his profession from a professor who’s daughter Soroma loved Gyanendra. Even Gyanendra reciprocates her feelings and in order to marry Soroma, he does not try to save Sumoti when there is a fire in their house. Gyanendra and Suroma marry each other, years pass by and Gyanendra becomes a judge. Once he has to judge a case where the guilty person has committed the same kind of guilt that he himself had committed. He now sees his reflection in the guilty man and remorse and repentance sets in. He finally gives the guilty verdict and also realizes his own guilt.
